Signup Basics

Embedded Form

An embedded form is a signup form placed directly inside another website, so visitors can sign up without leaving the page.

Kiosk Mode

Kiosk mode turns your signup form into a shared in-person station: after each person signs up, the form resets for the next person instead of finishing.

QR Code Signup

A QR code signup is a scannable code that opens your signup form on a phone, so people can join from a printed flyer, poster, or screen.

Registration Form

A registration form signs people up for an event, class, or program and records who is attending, often with a capacity limit and the details organizers need ahead of time.

RSVP

RSVP is a request for invitees to confirm whether they will attend an event. It comes from the French "repondez s'il vous plait," meaning "please reply."

Signup Form

A signup form is a web page that collects names and details from people choosing to take part in something, such as an event, a shift, or a list.

Signup Sheet

A signup sheet is an online list of slots, tasks, or items that people claim by adding their name, so a group can split up who does what without back-and-forth messages.

Survey

A survey collects opinions, ratings, or feedback from a group. Unlike a signup sheet, it gathers answers rather than handing out a limited set of spots.

Waitlist

A waitlist holds people in line for an option that is already full, and can automatically offer them the spot if it opens up.

Options & Capacity

Claim

A claim is one person taking one spot on an option. Where an option (or slot) is the thing being offered, a claim is the act of a single respondent reserving it.

Grouped Options

Grouped options organize the choices on a form into labeled sections, such as Appetizers, Mains, and Desserts on a potluck signup.

Highlighted Option

A highlighted option is one that is visually emphasized on the form to draw attention, often used for the spot organizers most need filled.

Max Responses

Max responses is the cap on how many people can sign up for an option. Once it is reached, the option shows as full and stops accepting new claims.

Option

An option is a single choice on your form that people can sign up for: a time slot, a task, an item to bring, or a date.

Quantity Selection

Quantity selection lets one person claim more than one spot or item at a time, such as bringing 12 cookies or reserving 3 seats.

Required Option

A required option is one that every respondent must select or answer before they can submit the form.

Time Slot

A time slot is an option tied to a specific date and time, such as a 15-minute conference window or a Saturday morning shift, that people book by signing up.

Unlimited Responses

Unlimited responses removes the cap on an option, so any number of people can sign up without it ever showing as full.

Responses & Submissions

Additional Question

An additional question is an extra field you add to the form to collect information beyond name and email, such as a phone number, t-shirt size, or file upload.

Comment (Note)

A comment is an optional note a respondent can add to their signup, such as a dish ingredient list, a dietary need, or a question.

Multiple Selections

Multiple selections lets a person sign up for more than one option in a single submission, instead of being limited to one choice.

Option Description

An option description is extra text shown under a choice on the form, explaining what it involves so respondents can pick the right one.

Response

A response is one person's signup on your form: the name, any details they entered, and the option or options they chose.

Submission

A submission is a single trip through the form. When someone is allowed to pick several options at once, those picks are bundled together as one submission.

Privacy & Access

Access PIN

An access PIN is a short code that respondents must enter before they can view or fill out a form, keeping it limited to people who have the code.

Anonymous Response

An anonymous response is a signup collected without identifying details, used when a form should not gather names or emails at all.

Consent Checkbox

A consent checkbox requires respondents to agree to a statement, such as a policy or waiver, before they can submit the form.

Incognito Mode

Incognito mode hides other people's names and emails from respondents, so each person can sign up without seeing who else has.

Unique Email

Requiring unique emails stops the same email address from signing up more than once, so each person can only respond a single time.

Logic & Scheduling

Conditional Logic

Conditional logic shows or hides parts of a form based on earlier answers, so each respondent only sees the questions relevant to them.

Recurring Event

A recurring event is a signup that repeats on a regular schedule, such as a weekly Sunday service or a snack rota every Tuesday and Thursday.

Scheduled Opening

A scheduled opening sets a future date and time for a form to start accepting responses, so it goes live on its own.

Submission Deadline

A submission deadline is a date and time when a form stops accepting responses and closes itself automatically.

Time Conflict

A time conflict is when one person would be booked into two overlapping slots at once. Grasshopper can prevent it by blocking a second booking that clashes.

Reminders & Notifications

Confirmation Message

A confirmation message is the email a respondent receives right after signing up, confirming what they chose and giving them a way to manage it.

Notification

A notification is an alert sent to the form's organizer when someone signs up, so they can keep track of responses as they arrive.

Reminder

A reminder is an automatic email sent to respondents before their slot or event, to cut down on no-shows.

SMS Reminder

An SMS reminder is a text-message version of a reminder, sent to a respondent's phone before their slot or event.
