NDA Volunteer Sign ups 2026-2027 School Year

The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis requires that all individuals who wish to volunteer in our school or attend class parties or field trips must complete VIRTUS training prior to participating in any volunteer activities. This is required of anyone working with children under the age of 18 in a school setting. VIRTUS training is a , three hour training and must be renewed every three years. You should receive email notification when you renewal is needed.

Participants must register online and attend training before they are allowed to work directly with students. Training sessions are offered throughout the Twin Cities, and you may attend any session that is convenient (you do not have to attend a session at NDA or at your home parish). NDA will be able to certify participation online once the training session has been completed.

Home and School Comittee is NDA's version of PTA/PTO! We help plan fundraisers, school wide gatherings, teacher appreciation opportunities and events, and help coordinate volunteers!

We meet once a month for 1 hour in the evening usually with a member of the school administration in attendance. This is a great way be the first in the know with school happenings, build friendships and connections with others parents and make a huge difference in our school community!

Our first meeting is Wed Sept 2nd at 6pm at school!

Room parents help to organize three holiday in-class parties (coordinated with the teacher for K-4 or the class for 5-8). Purchase food/beverages, arrange for the activity (movie, game, etc.) and set up and clean up. In-class parties are anticipated to be in the afternoons on 10/30 for Halloween, 12/18 for Christmas and 2/12 for Valentine's Day. A room parent would need to be at school on those afternoons assisting the teacher/class.

Recess duty is a great way to help the teachers get a break to eat their lunch and see your kiddo during the day. Please continue returning to this page so we make sure we have enough volunteers at recess.

There are two slots available each weekday 11:55-12:15 K-4th grades and 12:35-12:55 5th-8th grades.

Lunch duty Subs are needed on certain days when the regular volunteer lunch duty crew is not available.

Approx 1.5 hours of volunteer time per shift. 12pm-1:30pm

Duties: Check in at the NDA front desk to sign in as a volunteer, then head back to the kitchen to wash your hands and get your gloves on. Assist with setting up condiment table and serving condiments to students, helping open milk cartons, clean up spills, wipe down and clean tables and sweep floors in between lunch shifts and at the end of lunch. 

Should plan to arrive by 12pm to help wipe tables from preschool lunch shift.

Help us keep the teacher's lounge stocked with a variety of grab-and-go and healthy snacks and drinks like pop and sparkling water. Items can be dropped off in the front office. Items should be nut-free!

Good Shepherds welcome new students and families into the NDA community by arranging summer play-dates and serving as a source of information. Please note that volunteer spots for this school year are currently full.

The Fall Festival concludes NDA's Marathon fundraising where students raise money for NDA by collecting donations and prayer intentions from family, friends and neighbors. This important fundraiser is one of the ways to help offset the gap between what is paid in tuition and the actual cost to educate a child.

Sign up to provide meals for our teachers during the Fall and Spring conferences. Meals should be delivered by 5pm.

Organize and Order dinner for teaches during fall and spring conference. A member of HSC will provide more details as the date approaches. All costs will be reimbursed by NDA HSC.

Help organize the used uniform store at NDA by sorting, cleaning, hanging uniforms, and taking stock of availability. Each visit takes approximately 2 hours during the school day. Contact NDA Front office to coordinate before stopping by.

A Christmas favorite for kids and parents: the NDA Christmas Boutique! This year it is on 12/8 and 12/9. The boutique is a low-cost, low-key way for our elementary students (K-4) to do a little holiday shopping for family and friends. Volunteers help the younger students select and gift wrap items for the people on their lists. If you prefer working behind the scenes, volunteers can also put their bargain shopping and/or decorating skills to use ahead of time since we'll need help setting up the boutique and stocking it with gifts (and then tearing down and packing everything away afterwards)! Haul out your ugly sweaters and Christmas cheer and volunteer for this fun event!

Christmas Boutique will take place December 8th and 9th.

There will be volunteer opportunities on December 9th and 10th in the boutique as well as before (stocking/shopping and set up) and after (tear down).

Grand Beginnings ("GB") is Saturday, April, 24, 2027.  GB is a fun night to build our community while raising money for our school. It’s a night to meet new people and socialize with your friends. There will be a sit down dinner, a short program, and a live and silent auction as well as games to play. See each job description for estimated volunteer hours. 

There are two fundraisers for NDA through Gertens Garden Center (TBD). NDA receives 30 percent of all plant sales which helps to fund and support initiatives not covered by the school budget. Volunteers are needed to help unload the Gertens delivery trucks at school (delivery is before noon) and sort the plants for afternoon pick-up (3pm - 5:30pm). Volunteer hours for delivery/set up crew is about 5 hours per day. Hours for the Chair of the Event is about 15 hours. If you have questions, please email Kathy Ring [email protected].

Volunteer for this NDA event where students invite their grandparents (or a special friend/relative) to visit the school and classroom, meet their teachers, and gather in church for a prayer service and choir performance. Because of such strong attendance from grandparents/special friends, parents are only able to attend the event as volunteers (unless they are the special friend for the student). 

There is a need for a parent or two to take on the role of chair/co-chair of the event. 

Many other volunteer options are available, including set up the evening before, greeters/ushers, servers of snacks/beverages and clean-up crew.
