Thank you for your interest in joining the volunteer team at the CUMC/50 Haven Food Pantry at Columbia!

Please submit this volunteer agreement to proceed with completing your onboarding. Our Director of Volunteer Management, Elizabeth, will then share the monthly signup with you, at which point you can select a time to come to the pantry to volunteer!

Below is information about the pantry open hours and our location. ***Please come to the pantry to volunteer only after Elizabeth has shared the signup with you and you have selected a slot.***

Fall 2026 hours are Tuesdays, 6:00 PM-8:00 PM and Wednesdays, 4:00 PM-6:00 PM

Volunteer shifts divided into 1-hour slots, but feel free to sign up for 2 slots in each open hours date! ***Please arrive a few minutes before your shift start time.***

Volunteer Confidentiality Agreement *

Volunteer Confidentiality Agreement - The Food Pantry at Columbia Purpose: Our mission is to relieve hunger through the acquisition and distribution of food to those students who need it most. We strive to lead our campus community in the fight against hunger and the stigma associated with food insecurity. Columbia University is, above everything else, a community. When one of us is in need, we respond. As a result, The Food Pantry envisions a campus in which every student, regardless of their affiliation or socioeconomic status, has sufficient access to nutritious food. Student volunteers of The Food Pantry at Columbia are integral to the success of combating food insecurity on campus. As a volunteer for the Food Pantry at Columbia, you may have access to personal and sensitive information about students, staff, or other individuals using pantry services. To protect the privacy and dignity of all pantry users, it is essential to maintain strict confidentiality. Confidentiality Agreement I understand and agree to the following terms as a volunteer with the Food Pantry at Columbia: Confidential Information I may have access to confidential information, including but not limited to: Names or identifying details of pantry users Contact information Student ID numbers Details about food insecurity or personal circumstances Records of pantry usage or services received Obligation to Maintain Confidentiality I will not disclose any confidential information I encounter through my volunteer role to anyone outside of the pantry, including friends, family, or other volunteers. I will discuss sensitive information only with pantry staff. I will not take photos or share any details about pantry users on social media or in public settings. Respect and Dignity I will treat all pantry visitors with respect, kindness, and without judgment, maintaining their dignity at all times. Security of Information I will not retain any written or digital copies of confidential records unless specifically authorized. I will ensure any materials I handle are returned or destroyed according to pantry policies. Reporting Breaches If I become aware of any breach of confidentiality, I will report it immediately to the Student Support Specialist or Student Leaders. Duration This agreement remains in effect during and after my volunteer service with the Food Pantry at Columbia. Following the completion of this form you will receive outreach from the Director of Volunteer Management within 2-3 business days.
