Sillygander Volunteer Signup
Sillygander is a clean, intentional space designed to hook up with improv friends old and new, log stage reps, and share the joy of improv with a live neighborhood audience.
Resonance Improv is 100% volunteer-led and Sillygander runs purely on community collaboration. These sessions will only take place if community members step forward to run them. If nobody signs up to fulfill the required two roles for a scheduled date, that session will be cancelled.
Required Roles:
Workshop Facilitator
The facilitator may create their own agenda or request support from the Resonance Improv leadership to design it. This person is responsible for creating a welcoming environment, conducting an opening safety talk, deciding what exercises to do, and teaching them to participants who may be nervous to try improv. Plan for your workshop to run for 35-40 minutes.
Producer & EMCEE
The producer is responsible for bringing the fun and organizing the jam portion of the event. You may choose how to coordinate performances, but you must prioritize providing stage time to everyone present who wishes to get on stage. Examples include:
- Having everyone write their name down and randomly drawing names until none are left
- Asking what folks want to do and organizing a 'show' on the fly
- Assessing what those present are best at and choosing as you go what will work
- Run formats that get a lot of people involved, like a dusty or LaRonde
- Take suggestions from the evening's workshop facilitator on what formats might extend on the work done in the workshop
- Choosing games/formats in advance, then asking who is present would like to try what
If a team has requested an opportunity to try their format, you will be notified in advance.
The EMCEE must never put the spotlight on themselves. Interludes between activities should be no longer than 30 seconds plus the time to describe the next format.
