Sync Responses to Google Sheets

Automatically send each new form response into a Google Sheet in your own Google Drive, in real time.

Sync Responses to a Google Sheet

Google Sheets sync automatically adds each new response to a Google Sheet as it comes in, so you can sort, filter, chart, and share your data in a spreadsheet without downloading a CSV every time. The Sheet is created in your own Google Drive and owned by you.

Google Sheets sync requires a Premium (or Boost) account.

CONNECT GOOGLE SHEETS

Step 1: Open your form's settings

From your Dashboard, open the form you want to sync and go to its Options (form success/settings) page. Scroll to the Google Sheets Sync card.

Step 2: Connect your Google account

Click Connect Google Sheets and choose the Google account you want the Sheet created in. If you're signed in to more than one Google account, pick carefully: whichever account you choose is the Drive your Sheet will live in. The connected account is shown as "Sheets will be created in: [email protected]" so you can confirm it.

TURN ON SYNC FOR A FORM

Step 3: Enable sync

Switch on Sync responses to a Google Sheet. Grasshopper creates a new Google Sheet in your Drive for this form and shows an Open your Google Sheet link. From then on, every new response is added to the Sheet automatically, right away.

ADD YOUR EXISTING RESPONSES

Step 4: Sync responses you already have (once)

If your form already had responses before you turned on sync, click Sync all existing responses to add them to the Sheet. Use this once, right after enabling sync: it adds every current response, so clicking it again would create duplicate rows.

HOW SYNCING WORKS (IMPORTANT)

Google Sheets sync is append-only: it adds rows but never edits or deletes rows that are already in your Sheet. Please keep this in mind:

  • New responses are added as new rows automatically.
  • Edited responses: when a respondent edits their signup, the updated version is added as a new row. The original row stays in the Sheet, so you may see both.
  • Deleted responses: deleting a response in Grasshopper does not remove its row from the Sheet. The row remains.
  • One row per response: the Sheet lists a row for each response with the same columns as the CSV export. (For quantity signups it shows one row per spot rather than a single combined row.)
  • Your live source of truth is always the Responses page in Grasshopper. The Sheet is a running log for spreadsheet-style work; if you need an exact current snapshot, use the CSV download or the "Sync all existing responses" button on a fresh Sheet.

To stop syncing, switch off Sync responses to a Google Sheet, or click Disconnect to unlink Google Sheets from your account entirely (existing Sheets stay in your Drive).
