First UU Halloween - Volunteer Signup

Minimum Volunteers Needed: 3

Do you LOVE Halloween? Families? Good fun? Come early to trick out First UU for a party! Breakfast Burritos will be provided.

On SATURDAY MORNING, you will:

• Set up tables and chairs
• Label any donated items to be returned after event
• Put up decorations
• Prepare activity spaces
• Finishing touches on MS/HS Haunted House

Minimum Volunteers Needed: 6

THE MOST BELOVED OF THEM ALL! Show your UU value of LOVE by pitching in after the event ends. The more people we have, the earlier we go home!

During shift, you will:

• Put away tables/chairs
• Wash countertops
• Pack away reusable decorations/supplies
• Set aside loaned items to be returned
• Sweep floors
• Dispose of trash
• Pick the music we jam to!

Minimum Volunteers Needed: 2

The Middle School and High School youth are responsible for assembling their own Haunted House.

After worship service on the PRIOR SUNDAY, you will:

• Be part of a pair (at least) of supervising adults
• Label any donated items to be returned after event
• Ensure space is respected; no damage to walls/furnishings
• Ensure the walking path is safe and unobstructed
• If overhead lights will be off, ensure other lighting is provided and adequate for safe traversal
• Ensure the Entrance and Exits are clearly marked

Minimum Volunteers Needed: 2

The Middle School and High School youth are responsible for running their own Haunted House.

Throughout the event you will:

• Be part of a pair (at least) of supervising adults
• Invite/direct visitors to/through Entrance and Exit
• Ensure youth are aware of shift times and guidelines:
• No pushing or rushing anyone
• No touching visitors without consent
• Keep the walkway clear
• Offer a silly vs scary option for visitors who don't want jumpscares or frights (such as small children)
• Hand off shift to next volunteers

Minimum Volunteers Needed: 2

The Middle School and High School youth are responsible for running their own Haunted House.

During shift, you will:

• Be part of a pair (at least) of supervising adults
• Invite/direct visitors to/through Entrance and Exit
• Ensure youth are aware of shift times and guidelines:
• No pushing or rushing anyone
• No touching visitors without consent
• Keep the walkway clear
• Offer a silly vs scary option for visitors who don't want jumpscares or frights (such as small children)
• Close shift and remind visitors to return to Fellowship Hall for the Costume Contest

Minimum Volunteers Needed: 2

The Middle School and High School youth are responsible for disassembling their own Haunted House.

When Costume Contest ends, you will:

• Be part of a pair (at least) of supervising adults
• Direct youth back to the Haunted House to:
• Revert space to normal (pre-Halloween) configuration
• Dispose of trash
• Sweep floor
• Ensure all materials are returned to Fellowship Hall
• Sort and set aside loaned items to be returned Sunday
• Neatly pack remaining decorations

• Help label potluck items (for food allergies)
• Refill beverages, napkins, utensils
• Bus away trash and dirty dishes
• Mingle if you'd like!
• Handoff space to next shift

What is Lotería!? Similar to bingo, played with cards. A "cantor" (singer) draws and reads cards then participants mark matching images on their "tablas" (board); if a board or pattern is completed, the participant shouts "¡Lotería!" to win a prize.

During shift, you will:

• Reset game materials as needed
• Instruct visitors on how to play
• Hand out prizes to winners
• Handoff space to next shift

• Demonstrate a sample completed craft
• Direct visitors on options to assemble their own
• Assist small children with any cutting, hot glue, or small objects (if present)
• Get creative!
• Handoff space to next shift

Minimum Needed: 1

Craft is to be determined; in previous years, we've had pumpkin decorating, paper crafts, and/or Halloween treat bag creations. YRE Committee will walk you through the craft ahead of time.

During shift, you will:
